About EV Editing

EV Editing is an independent editing and self-publishing consultancy for speculative fiction authors.

Led by Emily, EV Editing combines editorial expertise with practical publishing guidance to help authors strengthen their manuscripts and move towards publication with clarity and confidence.

What sets EV Editing apart is the specialist focus on speculative fiction, together with a clear commitment to human editorial work only — never generative AI.

A Little About Me

I’m Emily, the founder of EV Editing.

My background includes six years as an award-winning copywriter and content editor. I also hold multiple certifications from the Publishing Training Centre, as well as a degree from the University of Nottingham, where I studied literature in English, French, and Spanish.

Alongside my editorial work with authors, I’m also a writer and reader with a deep love of speculative fiction. I share insights and behind-the-scenes thoughts on Substack and TikTok, and I am currently self-publishing a gothic short story collection.

I love hiking and the outdoors. This photo was taken in Iceland, one of my favourite places in the world.

I know first-hand how vulnerable it can feel to share your manuscript with someone else, and even more so to release it into the world. My aim is always to meet that vulnerability with thoughtful editorial guidance and clear communication.

If that sounds like the kind of support you’re looking for, you are very welcome to get in touch.
